Potassium permanganate is most effectively used as a bath treatment. Either at a rate of 10ml per 44 gallons for 10 to 12 hours. Or as a short term bath use 10ml per 8.8 gallons, for no longer than 30 mins. When using this product directly in the pond always use the first dosage rate. It is also important not to run this product through your filter system, as the filter will strip this product from the water before it has had a chance to do its job. When using this product in your pond you must switch your filter system off for 10 to 12 hours. It is very important to supply circulation, or oxygenation to your pond water during this period. This product will deplete your pond water of its oxygen. It is also important to observe your fish while this product remains in your pond water. If the fish show any signs they that they are not responding well to the treatment simply switch your filter system back on. Potassium permanganate should never be used in the pond over night when oxygen levels are naturally lower than during the day. This product can also make your fish jump so cover nets are advisable.
